New website on Direct Democracy and European Integration

IRI opens debate forum on key future issue: how can we combine our participative popular rights with transnational decision-making in Europe.

On February 5, the Swiss clearly voted in favour of opening up its domestic labour market to all EU citizens, including from the newest member states Bulgaria and Romania. It was the 50th nationwide popular vote (referendum) on Europe in Europe since 1973 and offered a window of opportunity on how direct democracy and european integration has been and cvan be combined. As a consequence of it, IRI Europe now opens a new resource and debate website in german language, dealing with all aspects of this challenging combination - Unsere Volksrechte in Europa.
